Rural Physician Trauma Survey

Do rural physicians working in British Columbia perceive actionable opportunities to improve the management of major trauma care presenting to remote/rural facilities, and if so, what are they?

The impact of major trauma and the challenge of rural access to trauma services and support in BC has been well described. However, the needs of rural physicians in the management of major trauma patients may not be well understood. This study aims to understand these needs.

All information received will be confidential. Participation is voluntary, participants do not have to answer any questions they are uncomfortable with, and may withdraw at any time without penalty and without giving any reason for their decision. Submission of the survey confirms your agreement to participate and your understanding of the research study.

The principal investigator of the study is Dr. David Evans, Assistant Professor of Surgery, UBC. The Co-investigators are Dr. Jude Kornelsen, Associate Professor Department of Family Practice, UBC, Dr. Stuart Iglesias, MD, Rural Coordination Centre of BC, and Ole Olsen who is completing this research project as a graduation requirement for his Masters of Health Administration at UBC. Results will be reported in a graduate paper and may also be published in academic journal articles
